~Right after breakfast, Margie settled herself down with Dr. Seuss' My Book About ME and read it. Upside down. When asked why, she replied, "Because I can read upside down." Well, can't argue with that. She now informs me (reading over my shoulder, stinker) that she was actually reading the book before breakfast as well.
~Playtime: cars and laundry hampers and puzzles.
~We caught a local high school's Mariachi & steel drum bands on the news and listened to them play.
~Elliott did quite a bit of a puzzle all by himself!
~Margie played with the musical instruments.
~Margie started finger-knitting a project for Elliott's teacher - her last day with us is on Friday. *sniff*
~Margie made herself and Elliott snacks - waffles, hers with peanut butter.
~At some point Margie was walking around with a compass, informing me of the direction she was facing.
~Margie got out her Leap Pad and worked on a Reading Book.
~Margie and Elliott went outside. Elliott dug in the dirt and Margie and I checked out the tomato plant. We found a green triangle-shaped insect on it which appearred to be attracting ants. I haven't figured out what kind of bug it was, though. I held him for a a bit until he few away.
We've had lunch now and are heading out for a long, long day. Margie has classes and then we'll run some errands and after that have dinner with friends. We'll likely be home after bedtime and hopefully I won't be too tired to remember it all.
Back. Tired. Exhilarated. It was a good day.
~Listened to StoryNory's The Ugly Duckling on the drive up to school.
~Dropped M at classes today. We haven't had a chance to talk about Spanish yet (although I know she did NOT make me a Mother's Day card *wink wink nudge nudge*), but her art teacher e-mails us a review and according to that they learned about dominance in a piece of art. "The students created a newsprint collage by gluing a colored picture down in an interesting position on the black and white newsprint collage. They also created apple prints of one color with one print standing out as a different color."
~After classes, we hit the playground for a bit.
~We stopped at Ikea to find Elliott's teacher a gift (as well as Elliott, himself! he's got a birthday next week. We got him this train set and some accessories.)
~We tried, in vain, to find a cheapie haircutting place to get M's bangs trimmed so she can lose the 90's Superstar look. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.
~And we headed off to my friend Sandy's house to have dinner with her and our friend Sara who I have not seen for 6 years! There were a total of 9 kids (two named Elliot/t) and they all got along great and it was a BLAST. They collected snails (apparently nonexistant in Utah), picked citrus fruit, made a "passageway" to "Africa" (the empty house next door with the neglected lawn), and discussed Legoland and Indiana Jones at great length.
~On the way home I discovered Margie understands the concept of multiplication. We were talking about Legoland (the kids we met up with had been there today and we're going soon as well). She asked me how much it would cost us and I told her it would be $17 for each ticket (homeschool day special, yo). She thought for a minute and then told me, "So that means it would be 4 times 17?" Why yes, yes it does. I have absolutely no idea where she picked this up at, but wow.
~Crashed out. Elliott in the car, M before her head hit the pillow, I think.
