Alex and I made the mistake of being awake way too late cleaning up and preparing for the day today and when Elliott woke up only 4 1/2 hours after we'd fallen asleep,we were less than thrilled. So we've had a lazy day so far. We had considered going to Legoland again, but I decided yesterday not to because E would have more fun just getting the chance to play with his new toys - all of which he loves.
So far today the kids have:
~Set up the new train set and played VERY well together - Margie keeping her temper in check when her ideas didn't coincide with Elliott's, I'm so proud of her!
~Played Lincoln Logs (less well together and M had done enough holding of her temper for one morning - I'm still proud of her, though!)
~Opened all the presents together and helped keep the toys cleaned up.
~M played with Elliott's new clock puzzle.
~E did a puzzle and did pretty well by himself.
~They both played with E's WordWorld set. Margie made new birds up by combining the sets into new creations like "Fla-gull" (flamingo & seagull), and "ea-gull" (eagle and seagull).
~We left for lunch at Applebee's, but E fell asleep on the short drive over so we hung out in the car for a few minutes first.
~After lunch, we played a Chuck E Cheese for a couple of hours. Both kids had a lot of fun. M did the slide over and over again, and played air hockey with me (she's not bad!) as well as skeeball (could use some improvement there!).
~Hit a bakery on the way home for E to pick out some cookies.
~At home the kids played with the toys again (I'm so happy Elliott loves everything he got!).
~We watched the video of E's birth. Which actually began just after he was born so it's not really of his birth at all, but I'm not sure what to call it. We got to see a wrinkly, purple, slimy baby - and a few minutes later a pink and sweet little newborn. Not to mention a sweet three-year-old Margie!
~When we sang happy birthday he sang it the first time with his sister's name. He's so sweet.
~After cookies both kids went to bed. It was a long, lovely day.
