~Margie played an addition game on Webkinz where she had to find different ways to add up to the numbers 4, 6, 7, and more.
~Margie played with Lincoln Logs and created a few structures.
~Elliott played with trains and watched Super Why.
M is feelling a little yucky right now. We have a bowl out for puke watch so we'll see where this goes. I hope it clears up, not only because puke is not my idea of a fun Friday, but also because Elliott has his speech eval this afternoon. Speaking of which, not too long ago, I felt neutral about it. I wasn't worried if he didn't get any services or if he did. However, I've changed my mind. I'm now going to push for services and hope they work with us easily - I have heard horror stories about our school district's special ed department. But, even though he's doing great right now, I'd like to keep him in the radar so to speak. Elliott's (former) teacher agreed last week and added that it would be much easier to keep him in the program than to have to start all over again. So wish us luck. On the puke front as well as the speeh eval front.
~So far so good with the puke. She had a snack and seems much better. Although her eyes are not as sparkly as usual. We will see.
~We watered the plants and found a baby tomato beginning! I'm not sure how well he will do seeing as how I need to, you know, water plants more regularly, but it was cool to see him anyway.
~We talked about the tummy problems she's been having lately and she decided she wanted to go to acupuncture all by herself. She even promised to take the herbs no matter how nasty they might be. ;) So we talked a bit about internal organs and acupuncture (and Chinese medicine in general, briefly) and keeping the body in balance to feel your best.
~I am totally enjoying this lazy day after just about 7 days of nonstop. It's warm out and there's an aura of summer sneaking up. I'm feel lazy and happy. In other words, we aren't planning much today. We need to unwind.
~We went to E's speech eval. My kids are awesome. The therapist gave him two tests - one to listen to how he pronounced words, the other to see what words he understood. I'm not sure what his score on the first one was, but the second one he aced for sure. He got all the way into the 5 year old level before he started having trouble. I'm fully aware my kids are brilliant, but sometimes I wonder who makes these tests. I would think all the 3 year olds I know could have aced that one as well. Anyway. She said he has some sounds down that are beyond his age. On the other hand, she said she's concerned that he can't blow air out as though he were blowing out a candle. We go back in a couple of weeks for a follow-up meeting. Wish us luck that he is elligible for services. I'm not sure what to do next if he is not. Or if I should do anything.
~Back at home Margie spent some time on "big kid" Starfall, but I am honestly not sure what all she did. I know she did some word-matching.
~Margie played with the train set again and made her own figure-8. We also looked at how the magnets repell each other and talked a little about magnetism and compasses and reviewed what we learned about it a week or so ago.
~Margie and Dad began reading the book Nim at Sea, a sequel to our much-loved Nim's Island.
