Worksheets

Someone mentioned worksheets today on my AP message board and I thought I'd google for some for my schooler. I printed out five and we did three today. The catch? I insisted that she follow directions. Which meant I sat right with her and we worked together. Which, is, of course, fine. We did some addition, some number recognition and some patterns. She did really awesome! She is sooo not a direction-follower usually, and I feel that she got a lot out of this experience. For one thing, she learned a few things. The addition, I think, was new to her. And writing numbers was new to her, too, and she was hesitant to trace the ones I wrote for her at first. But I'm please with what I learned about her, too. I learned that she recognizes a lot more numbers than I ever knew! I learned that she can, in fact, follow directions. And that she knows her patterns. For the most part I have taken a very relaxed approach to her education, but for now, at least, these worksheets are going to be good for both os us, I think.
