Field Trip: Organic Farm

We visited La Milpa Organica farm today with our homeschool group. It was a bit of a drive for those of us in South County, but worth every mile.

walking in the farm
Margie made herself right at home with Jessica, the woman who took us on a tour of the farm.

After feeding some turkeys, the kids picked carrots and ate them fresh from the ground, once they were rinsed.

see? she ate one!

They also picked onions...

The kids fed some goats and then watched while Jessica and her daughter milked a goat. And while the goat protested violently.

Then, the kids got to taste it.

Margie was not fond of it.

They picked herbs and cattails and then we had a nice picnic lunch under some trees near the playground.

The carrots and onions are cooking as we speak.

Great photos! I don't think you were in earshot when Margie said, "I know how to milk a goat. You squeeze its booby!" :)
