~M woke up and hopped on webkinz.com as usual.
~Margie put her clothes away after I folded them.
~Margie and I took a look at the beans we had "planted" in a ziploc bag and taped up in the window. They are BIG! Later we will measure them.
~Margie comandeered my laundry basket for her Webkinz stuffed animals.
~Elliott tried to take over the Webkinz, but M was having none of that.
~Margie pulled out E's computer laptop toy and he spent some time playing music on it.
~Margie informed me she was teaching Elliott how to spell using his computer.
~Margie pulled out her Franklin "All About Me" book and began filling it out. I gave her a baby picture and a current picture of her to paste in it. She traced her hand and feet "all by myself!" and she asked me how to spell words she didn't know.
~M took a bath and Elliott pretended to wash her hair while I cleaned the bathroom.
~I got a call from Alex saying we didn't have to run an errand for him after all so I put on Planet Earth.
~Margie did some more in her Franklin Book.
~Elliott threw a ball around, including at his sister's head.
~At some point the kids actually began paying attention to Planet Earth and we saw a few animals being eaten, as well as a funny bird that hopped and flapped his wings so that he could jump above the tall grasses. I did not catch the names of any animals b/c my kids? They are loud.
~Kids had snacks.
~I pulled out the geo-tiles for Margie again because I wanted to work on concentric patterns with her. This is something she did in her art class a few weeks ago and it seemed easier for her to do with the tiles.
~Elliott tried to join us, but after destroying M's first try, I distracted him with counting bears and we sorted them by color into the bowls. And then he threw them all over the room because he is two. *sigh*
~Elliott and I dressed up in a Blue's Clues hooded towel.
~M began using the geo-tiles to make pictures.
~Clean up time!
~Lunch: E had a sandwich, M ate half a slice of reheated pizza and then decided she would rather have carrots and spinach. Yes, someone did steal her and replace her with a Stepford Child.
~We listened to classical music on XLNC1 and heard Flight of the Bumblebee which we talked about a bit.
~Kids played nicely together while I did some work and waited for E's teacher to arrive. It's not even noon yet.
~Kids were INSANE when E's teacher came but we finally got them focused on I Spy books. Those reminded us that we had some I Spy View Master discs so Margie grabbed those and we taught E to use the View Master. When the kids started arguing over whose turn it was, I remembered my collection of View Masters and discs that used to belong to my grandpa. So not only did the kids each get thier own View Master to use, but I also realized I had this whole cool resource I'd never used - I have tons of discs from the 40's and 50's of different places in the US, as well as animals and other stuff. Very cool. I'm gonna keep that in mind.
~Off to Homeschool Park Day! Unless it's too late!
~It wasn't too late. We spent 2 hours there and most of teh time at least one mom was there with us. We also took a short walk at the end.
~Came home for snacks (Margie's "milkshake" recipe: rice milk & frozen strawberries, popcorn & Elliott had Cheddar Bunnies)
~We did some real quick measurements of her bean sprouts - one was 2 inches and another was 3 inches! All in 8 days! The third is confused as to how to get himself upwards (poor thing is fighting through a paper towel, not soil) and the fouth has not sprouted. The tallest one lost it's bean casing. I'll look up the terms for the different parts later and teach her at some point.
~Margie played outside with her friends, showing them our View Masters.
~After dinner the kids watched their perspective screens (computer: Webkinz, TV: Blues Clues) for about 30 minutes.
~When dad got home, Margie asked him to set up her new Crayola Cutter and she used it to make a tiara and a ring, among other things.
~Bedtime!
~Even learning after bed. You just can't stop these kids. M spent about an hour in bed reading an old book of Alex's called The Superkids and the Singing Dog.
